Green Building Project
What "Green Building Programs" affect a residential cabinet shop?
There are organized or official "Green Building Programs" and general green building practices that affect the materials you use in residential cabinets.
Some of the national and regional organized building programs include:
- United States Green Building Council (USGBC) - LEED Home
- National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) - Green Home Building Guidelines
- Minnesota GreenStar - Certified Green Homes & Remodeling
- Green Built Homes - Wisconsin
- Green Communities - National Program
Most of these programs consist of point systems that lead to increasing levels of environmental stewardship and energy efficiency. Metro Hardwoods will provide you with the required material documentation needed for your green building program or product certification.
What about the homeowner that just wants a green kitchen but does not want to use an "official" green program?
For these homeowners, Metro Hardwoods can supply you with a variety of "Green Product" options that will meet the environmental and economical requests of your customers. There are several level of "Green" that can be attained similar to the "Official Green Programs" and their point systems. We can help explain the certification options and green construction alternatives.
How do Metro Hardwoods green industrial products meet the needs of our Commercial LEED project?
Each project has unique needs and requirements that are interrelated to the goals of the architect, developer and general contractor. The fixtures you supply do not convert into direct credits, but have to be used in conjunction with other building materials in the project. Generally speaking, each project needs to be evaluated and options laid out for your contribution of potential LEED Credit points.
